Anthony Verge Named Kimmons Middle School Teacher of the Year!

Fort Smith Public Schools is proud to announce Anthony Verge as Kimmons Middle School’s Teacher of the Year. A dedicated orchestra teacher, Mr. Verge has made a significant impact by fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment for all students.

Mr. Verge makes it a priority to connect with students on a personal level, taking time to understand their unique backgrounds and experiences. “This connection is vital,” a colleague shared. “His relatability not only builds trust but also encourages students to open up and engage more deeply in their learning.” Mr. Verge's commitment to building relationships creates a welcoming space where all scholars feel valued, leading to increased student success.

Beyond the classroom, Mr. Verge advocates for a well-rounded school experience. He encourages students to participate in fine arts, athletics, academics, and clubs, helping them discover their passions and talents. He collaborates with both the Kimmons and Northside Fine Arts departments, enhancing students' artistic experiences. His involvement in the local symphony and events in Northwest Arkansas places an emphasis on cultural enrichment. He even created an elite Chamber Orchestra for 7th and 8th-grade students, providing unique performance opportunities and promoting teamwork.

Mr. Verge’s dedication to student development extends beyond music. He also serves as a chess coach, mentors students, and contributes to the Kimmons Guiding Coalition. Additionally, he promotes staff well-being through daily self-care emails. His unwavering commitment to students and colleagues has earned him the respect of the entire Kimmons community.
